The danger of implementing new, unproven technology looms giant in most content strategy tasks. A foul technology resolution can derail or destroy an otherwise compelling project. Nevertheless, it is our experience that poor technology selections are rarely the cause of a failed mission. Bad undertaking management is a much more likely wrongdoer. The Technology Integration Matrix (TIM) offers a framework for describing and focusing on the use of technology to enhance learning. The TIM incorporates 5 interdependent traits of significant studying environments: lively, collaborative, constructive, authentic, and purpose-directed. These traits are related to five ranges of technology integration: entry, adoption, adaptation, infusion, and transformation. Together, the 5 characteristics of meaningful studying environments and 5 ranges of technology integration create a matrix of 25 cells, as illustrated below.
